Description | In 2023, after decades of civil unrest and armed conflict, the Nagorno-Karabakh region was annexed to the Republic of Azerbaijan. As a result of this political move and the outbreak of violence, the entire indigenous population of the territory, which has been home to an Armenian population for thousands of years, is immediately fleeing. Why is the world blinded to what is happening in Nagorno-Karabakh? Why is the media silent? And what role do historical monuments play in the whole conflict? Listen to the 42nd interview of art historian Ivan Foletti and archaeologist Jiri Machacek in the podcast! This episode was produced due to the cooperation between the Centre for Early Medieval Studies, the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Prague. |
