Description This pilot study aimed to investigate the effect of doxorubicin (DOX) on vascular reactivity using an isolated aorta model. Aorta rings from Wistar rats were incubated with Krebs-Henseleit solution with or without DOX, followed by tension measurement on a myograph. Responses to phenylephrine, acetylcholine, and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inactivation were evaluated. The results revealed no significant differences between DOX and control groups in adrenergic and cholinergic responses or tension changes after NOS inactivation. These findings suggest that acute DOX exposure at 1 µM does not affect vascular reactivity in this model, warranting further investigation into the potential impact of chronic drug administration on vascular toxicity.
