| Description | Digitalis glycosides are the oldest drugs in cardiovascular medicine used in the treatment of atrial fibrillation, as well as in patients with heart failure. In 1997, the only randomized and placebo-controlled trial in patients with heart failure and sinus rhythm, called the Digitalis Investigation Group, was published to date. The use of digoxin has fallen into the background in recent years. Why this is so, and the studies currently looking at some glycosides will be discussed in this review article. |
