| Description | In the first half of the 18th century, Moravia was a region with an extremely intense opera and oratorio scene. Three aristocrats played the greatest role in opera productions: the Bishop of Olomouc, Wolfgang Hannibal Cardinal von Schrattenbach, who had numerous music-dramatic works performed at his residences in Kroměříž, Vyškov and Brno between 1722 and 1738; Count Johann Adam von Questenberg (opera and oratorio performances at his central estate in Jarmeritz, 1722–1752) and Count Franz Anton von Rottal (opera performances at his residence in Holešov, 1731–1739). Furthermore, there was a municipal opera stage in Brno from 1734, which was initially managed by the impresario Angelo Mingotti. |
