| Description | The chapter is an introductory study to the publication of a translation of an anonymous travelogue to the Krkonoše Mountains written in German in 1796. In the first part, it analyses the motives that led to the beginnings of travelling and hiking expeditions to the mountains, the ways in which the mountains were perceived and the role they played in European or Czech culture. The second part analyses the original text of the work, which is one of the first travelogues in the Giant Mountains and whose author has not yet been identified. |
