Description The article focuses on the changes introduced by the new legal framework for public construction law in the Czech Republic, which becomes fully effective on July 1, 2024, particularly in relation to the organization of construction administration. The new Building Act (Act No. 283/2021 Coll.) establishes the Transportation and Energy Construction Authority with nationwide jurisdiction and delineates the competencies and responsibilities of various construction authorities and ministries. The purpose of the article is to summarize the relevant legal framework in this area based on an analysis of the legislation and explanatory reports, to reference related historical legal provisions, and to highlight certain current issues encountered by employees of construction authorities in practice. The article also examines the transitional provisions concerning the transfer of rights, obligations, and assets between existing and newly established authorities, and addresses practical challenges associated with their implementation.
