Description | The famous statement of the architect Gottfried Semper may well characterize a certain way of understanding fireworks and celebrations in the early modern period. Their historical research already had a certain tradition in Moravia (Josef Válka) and so we can set out to understand them through the collection of graphic sheets of the Brno Baroque architect František Antonín Grimm. We will mainly focus on the Roman festivities of "Chinea" during the reign of the Habsburg Viceroys of Naples and their later transformation. At the same time, we will try to point to their certain parallel in the Brno fireworks, celebrating the reign of the young and reform-minded Emperor Joseph I. |
