Citation
Description Continuously growing teeth are an amazing evolutionary adaptation that ensures the permanent regeneration of worn dental tissues. They also provide an attractive model system for studying stem cell niche, cell differentiation, regeneration, or activation of reparative mechanisms induced by injury. Using single-cell RNA-sequencing or lineage-tracing methods, we have identified novel aspects of stem cell niche behavior and complex cellular hierarchy in this renewing organ. The results of this work show the complexity, adaptability, and robustness of the stem cell niche and open new possibilities in the field of regenerative medicine.
