Description | Cps mutants of S.pombe were isolated as supersensitive to spindle poison isopropyl 3-N-chlorophenyl carbamate.Cps6-153 mutant reveals wall weakness and defects in cytokinesis and cell morphology. The aim of this work was to describe cytoskeleton and wall ultrastructure.Actin cytoskeleton reflected accumulation of wall material at poles and septum region.Cytoplasmic microtubules revealed abnormal alignment. The wall was less compact and more spongy with predominance of microfibrils. It is suggested that cps6 may function in regulation of cell wall integrity and cytokinesis in Ras-related signalling patway via interaction with the cytoskeletal organizaction. |
