Description | To assess the tendency of drug dependence and for the study of pharmacological mechanism and possible exogenous intervention in the preclinical research "i.v. drug self-administration" is considered to be one of the most valid methods. This method is based on the application of the drug by the experimental animals themselves. Through the accomplishment of the defined task, they determine the intake of the tested drug which is responsible for the drug dependence. The main purpose of the preclinical studies is to find the substance attenuating "craving" for the drug and enabling the abstinence. |
