Description Unstable displaced fractures of the articular process, which are very often combined with luxation of the mandibular joint, require surgical reposition and fixation under direct sight supervision. Application of lag screws from the Eckelt-Martin instrumentation set has proved successful in 14 patients. No considerable complications occurred. As expected, a complete function of the mandible with initial posistion of the condyle was restored and the result of the operation was successful. Though, it is necessary to remove the screw subsequently by another surgical operation, which means some disadvantage of this above method. Complete instrumentation set is necessary to be available for the choice of the described method.
