Citation
Description The work analyses the part of coinage of the Bishops of Olomouc in the development of the Moravian coinage in the 13th century. The restoration of service of minting rights of the Bishops of Olomouc was proved through the analysis of material and written documents. The Bishops of Olomouc gained the minting rights already in the 40s of the 12th century in respect of the Podivín castle. Some coinages which have symbols of royal and episcopal power could result on the basis of the convention between the Czech king and the Moravian margrave Přemysl Otakar II (1253-1278) and the Bishop of Olomouc Bruno of Schauenburg who was the Moravian governor during years 1253-1262. New designs of episcopal coinages are identified on the basis of iconographic analyses from domestic as well as foreign discoveries.
