Description The aim of the analysis has been to provide basic data on the status of women - scientific employees of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The analysis was based on data available at the SAS. The main findings of the analysis are follows: with a rising educational level number of women in the Academy is dropping down; the highest qualification level is a barrier form women and existence of this barrier is of a structural character; and percentage of women in the managerial positions, in advisory boards and steering committees is lower than percentage of women out of all employees. The reasons for it might be found in the system of personal policy and in the system of management of human resources. Potential of women working at the Academy, which is 33%, is not fully and successfully utilized. Several hypotheses heve been formulated based on the analysis. Their validity could be verified by broad sociological research.
