| Description | The study attempts to manifest the determination of contemporary view on semantic and ontological aspect of mental entities by the Cartesian paradigm of modern philosophy. This view shows evident parallels with opinions of common-sense psychology. The study tries to point to the impropriety of this view for the research in individual meaning as a psychological variable. The Fodor`s conception on one hand and that of Ogden and Richards on the other hand are analysed in detail. The conception of individual meaning enabling its empirical study is further developed. In the conclusion, the principles of functioning of methods of psychosemantics and the adequate interpretation of their results are discussed. |
