Description | This presenation is based on a longitudinal study that ran in Brno from 1999 to 2002. The focus of the study was stability of coping strategies in adolescence. It looks at the changes in selected coping strategies in early and middle adolescence and their possible power to predict further development in adolescence. A typology was developed based on the presence of three coping strategies in an individuals coping repertoire. While the stability of all types was very low in the younger cohort, in the older cohort two types of coping characterised by (1) high problem avoidance, low emotion control, low active coping and by (2) high problem avoidance, high emotion control, low active coping were found to be quite stable. |
