| Description | By means of the decapsulation of the mucous strain of Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus the production of hyaluronidase was detected in Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus hyicus only. Because S. hyicus is not present in specimens from human beings the test for the hyaluronidase could be used to distinguish the clinically most important species of Staphylococcus aureus from other staphylococcal species. |
