Description | This paper deals with cultural reflexion of forest phenomenon. It proceeds from the assumption that nature (forest) is a socially constructed category more than objectively given reality. The perception of symbolic dimension of forest is described deeply ambivalent. The sources of this ambivalence are illustrated by opposing historical examples of human relation to forest. I assume that these in civilised manner fixed schemes of attitude to forest have latently affected discussion about forest protection to the present day. |
