Description The importance of paleoherpetological studies results from their poikilothermity, biotopes restriction, and slow evolution of the herpetological species. As regards of the studies of Quaternary assemblages in Germany and British Isles, it is possible to distinguish early, top, and late phases of their development. There are several early Pleistocene localities both in Czech Republic and Austria which show clear differrence from the German and British middle and late Pleistocene model. Unlike Germany and Britain, several south European herpetological species occur in the Early Pleistocene sites of our region.
