Description | We distinguish between moral dilemma solving i.e. general opinion as agreement or disagreement and moral dilemma reasoning i.e. giving reasons for chosen solution. We suppose that solving can be strongly influenced by values representing "what is important for a specific person". A research sample consisted of 213 Czech adolescents aged 14-19 years. We used a moral dilemma questionnaire (according Rest, 1997) and pair comparison of ten life values (Macek, Osecka, 1991, according Schwartz 1987). According our results solution of dilemmas can be from more than a half predicted from general opinion. Values influenced both aspects of moral judgment, e.g. solving as well as reasoning. |
