Description | This review essay evaluates an ambitious book which offers a broad perspective of the work of the German sociologist, political and legal theorist Max Weber. In addition to assessing the strengths and shortcomings of the book, the essay discusses for which areas of political science and above all political theory (such as ethical neutrality of the state, global triumph of capitalism, relationship between liberalism, nationalism and democracy, methodological and epistemological aspects of social sciences) is Weber's work inspirational even today, and where the "Weberian interpretations" stops halfway through. |
