Description The investigation of the gifted childrens self-esteem is one part of the wider research focused on the sociability and emotionality of the gifted in the Czech Republic. The research is carried out in the sample of children at the age of 7-9. We used Raven`s Coloured Progressive Matrices to screen the intelligence, S. Harters Self-Perception Profile for Children for examination of the self-esteem and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children to take the structure of the intelligence. The teachers evaluate childrens self-esteem by filling out Teachers Rating Scale of Childs Actual Behaviour. We found out that more gifted children attained higher self-esteem in the domain of school competence. Gifted children evaluate themselves more critical in each domain than teachers evaluate them (except the field of behaviour). Girls evaluate themselves better social adapted, more physically attractive and better behaved than boys. These results are corresponding with teachers evaluation.
