| Description | The paper is a theoretical-empirical introduction to the issue of coach education, which represents an indispensable part of a broadly conceived project The Coach, Embarking on a Coaching Career and its Development, carried out by the Department of Social Sciences at the Faculty of Sports Studies MU. The authors perceive coaching as a profession of various forms requiring from its practitioners not only extensive expert knowledge, but also personal dispositions and social skills. The key of the coachs success is usually in the relationship with athletes, motivation, trust and personal commitment. The professional roles and missions vary depending on the changing form of the sports world: increasing demands are imposed on the coachs leadership skills, strategy and tactics, but at the same time there are demands on the responsibility of coaches as educators. As a consequence of natural transformation of the coaching profession the issue of coach education attracts more attention. |
