Description The concept of heresy as deviation from a clearly defined orthodoxy is still extremely influential in the historical discourse. The events around the corpses of Pietro Parenzo (d. 1199) and Armanno Pungilupo (d. 1269), however, show that the notion of heresy, explicit or implicit, can be very puzzling. In a way, it perpetuates the classifications and the myths of legitimacy that medieval churchmen created in order to destroy their enemies.
