Description | Liposomal drug dosage forms can be utilized as drug carriers for the aimed distribution into the affected tissue (”targeting”) or for other applications including topical administration. Liposomes are lipoid spherical particles with diameter 20 nm to several um, capable to adsorb hydrophilic or hydrophobic drugs. They are formed by one or more layers of lipid membranes that consist mainly of phosphatidylcholine (syn. lecithine). In comparison with conventional drug dosage forms, liposomes provide a high efficacy, good tolerability and safety of encapsulated drugs. |
