Description This study discusses the human right terminological hierarchy and the translation of field-specific terms and set phrases on the material of the English original version and the translation into Czech of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted and proclaimed by the General Assembly of UN on 10 December 1948. Since the aim of the Declaration is to define various human rights, the scope of the research is restricted to the translation of the lexical item right(s), its collocations and the related nest of set phrases. The translation of political terms related to human rights included in the UNESCO Thesaurus as well as of their set collocations in the Declaration tends to be as close as possible to their meaning and structure in the source text. The minimal differences between the source and target texts tend to be rather structural than semantic.
