Description Several authors consider swimming a favourite motor activity within all school grades (Bunc, 1996, Blahutková, 1998, Charvát, 2004, Hodaň, 2005 In Blahutková, Pacholík, 2006). In spite of this fact, we often encounter evasive behaviour, when talking about swimming courses in primary schools. Often, the parents themselves support such behaviour. Frequently, it is just repulsion against participation in swimming lessons. Nevertheless, in some cases there may be a serious problem - feelings of anxiety in a water environment. Our paper deals with the matters of eliminating these feelings. The Halliwick method may represent a suitable means. It is a method focused at the handicapped. However, its usage is wider and it may be also used at healthy population with various problems (feelings of anxiozity, problems with contact with water, onerous movements in the water environment due to various reasons etc.).
