| Description | The transition of map making to the digital environment meant, on the first side, the possibility of relatively quick changes in appearance of the map. The idea of dynamic visualization has gone beyond all limits, given to map makers by media previously used for presentation of maps (the change of map content and design is instantaneous, based on query). Since generated map always shows only objects essential to given situation, it is possible to use cartographic symbol in every aspect of its graphic variables. As map is relatively empty, symbols can be for example bigger. Paper introduces principle of poly-functional compound cartographic symbol as useful tool for dynamic visualization for crisis management and also for mobile mapping. |
