Description | Modern technologies enable new ways of language research on electronic language corpuses - voluminous databanks of natural texts. Surprisingly, only few philological studies offer Corpus Linguistics as a separate subject in their curriculum. This article presents the schedule of this subject in German language studies for Grammar school teachers at the Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic). It shows the possibilities of embedding electronic corpora into language teaching, learning and academic (contrastive) language research. It also presents the Czech - German Parallel Corpus (probably the biggest corpus of its kind) which has been constructed at the Department of German Language and Literature at the Masaryk University. The article conveys a brief survey of the most important German Corpora. |
