Description Videomediastinoscopy is a routine invasive surgical examination of mediastinum. It is used for precise determination of the mediastinal lymphadenopathy, exact N-staging of the lung cancer and for the diagnostic of the other inflammatory and neoplastic mediastinal diseases. Because the mediastinoscopy is an invasive prosedure iatrogenic injuries of mediastinal structures may occur. The itraoperative application of the ultrasound examination could prevent false negative biopsies and iatrogenic mediastinal injuries.
