Description Personal hygienic habits play an important role in the treatment success. They reduce the risk of acquiring infections which are responsible for high morbidity, significant mortality, prolonged stay in hospital and increased direct costs in treatment. For any type of operation, the development of a wound infection approximately doubles the cost of hospitalization. Always the human factor has to take in count, thats why, it is important not just to educate, but to create a consciousness in the patients before hospitalization in case of elective surgery and to do continue follow-up of their hygienic habits while in hospital.
