| Description | Dressing materials can be divided in 3 groups. 1. classical materials , 2. moist wound healing (hydrocolloids, hydrogels, polyuretan foams, films, alginates, antiseptic dressings, dressings with active charcoal), 3. active dressings (for the treatment of hard to heal wounds; inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases, collagen dressings, dressings with hyaluronic acid, growth factors, skin replacements). Selection of a dressing material depends on amount of exudate, presence of infection, appearance of ulcer base and ulcer surrounding. |
