Description Title of the article pointed in one hand to the subject of research, social representations of death in examined populations, in other hand to the final research results. Stress is put on methodic and empiric aspect of the research. Theoretical framework of social representations theory, which determined systematically used research methodology of grounded theory, is only briefly mentioned. Cultural store of knowledge geographically situated in Sri Lanka supply to respondents as well commonly shared store of world explanations, knowledge of how it is, as broad pallet of methods how to treat with death, in everyday life trained and applied skills of knowing how. These methods with the aim of their practice differentiate single types of social representations of death in Sri Lanka. Explanation homogeneity, accessibility of relevant skills and shared image or fully lived value of death transcendence, that immortal - nibbana, are those aspects that are distinctive for cultural representations of death in Sri Lanka. Suggestions for applying research findings with aim to improve contemporary practice of treating death in the Czech republic round up the article.
