Description Azelaic acid is a naturally occuring dicarboxylic acid. Azelaic acid reduces P. acnes proliferation, helps to normalize keratinization and may also have a direct antiinflammatory effects. Azelaic acid is a depigmentary agents - a competitive and reversible inhibitor of tyrosinase, the key enzyme of melanogenesis, thioredoxin reductase and mitochondrial enzymes.
