Description The limbic system in our brain is responsible for sense of human of even temper and inward satisfaction. Dopamine appears to be the primary neurotransmitter that asserts during these processes. Drugs can influence the limbic system easily. Using drugs always leads to increased egestion of dopamine together with inducing the sense of pleasure. At present time, 5 gene types are investigated. These genes are known to be able to determine a structure and density of dopamine receptors in neuronal plasma membrane. The most popular is D2 gene, its locus is located on chromosome No. 11. The D2 gene can alternate in four different alleles: A1, A2, A3 and A4. Depending on his alleles system, an individual can be highly at risk regarding drug addiction. This contribution explains the connection between human genotype and higher risk of pathological addictions, how to specify the given human being genotype and how to use these findings in primary antidrug prevention.
