Description Compared to a central and spatially restricted site like Pavlov I, providing dense archaeological accumulations, and resulting from a variety of activities within a relatively short time-span of 27-25 ky, the site of Dolní Věstonice II is more specific. It ranges within the group of large hunter's settlements due to its size rather than to the complexity of the archaeological record. The artifact density (and retouched artifact density) is generally lower, compared to Pavlov I, the decorative objects are rare, and representative art is absent. Therefore, the site is promissing for studies of spatial structure, chronology, and specific activities (including funeral activities).
