| Description | New excavation and stratigraphic revision at Předmostí shows that within the loess deposits, at least two paleosol complexes are developed, indicating two warm periods (OIS 7 and 5). The upper one is represented by a relict of brown-reddish illimerized paleosol (or, soil sediment) all over the site area, and at certain places (Hradisko) it is overlain by dark humus paleosol relicts. Both paleosols of the younger warm period (OIS 5) include Middle Paleolithic (Taubachian) artifacts. Given the stratigraphic hiatus during the last glaciation, the Gravettian horizons follow in the loess directly above the Middle Paleolithic deposits. |
