Description | Malignant neoplasms may be recognized in the Czech Republic as occupational disease. Therefore, patients are entitled to financial compensation. For the recognition of disease it is necessary for the neoplasm or the relevant carcinogenic etiological factor to be listed in the list of occupational diseases. Recognition of occupational diseases is reserved for centers of occupational diseases, which have strictly locally allocated catchment area. Free choice of physician is excluded. In the years 1991-2006 in the Czech Republic, 945 cases of the disease malignant neoplasms were recognized as occupational disease. In 96% of those, men were affected. Professional bronchial, lung and pleura malignant neoplasms predominate. The cause was inhalation exposure to ionizing radiation in uranium mines or exposure to asbestos dust. |
