Description The paper is introducing an innovative approach to research developed by the University of Central Lancashire, Great Britain, called Community Enagement Model. This approach has its roots in action research and is suitable especially for the research of so called „hidden populations“. The main idea lies in direct engagement of the members of groups being studied into the research process, while the eff ect is not only in gaining information which are not easily achiveable by the common strategies, but also improving the communication between marginalized groups and mainstream society, enhancing qualifi cation and strenghtening the self–awareness of the individuals participating in the research and the possibility of development of activities for the benefi t of researched groups.
