Description This contribution gives a brief outline of inception, development and integration of independent Health Education field of study into the teaching in Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, Brno, as well as opinions on it. The contribution presents a view of university teachers, students and pedagogues teaching in schools on rightfulness of separation of Health Education field of study. This field permeates through many scientific disciplines (e.g. biology, chemistry, physics), it is also related to physical education and media education. Regardless, it is a separate field of study with its own content and didactics. Teachers engaged in Health Education have to be properly prepared for this responsible work in faculties of education. University teachers should dispose of not only perfect multidisciplinable knowledge, but also should have mastered didactics to address students of either full-time or combined study mode.
