Description | The painting decorations in the former library of St. Vitus Chapter was initiated in 1724 by chapter dean and librarian Karel Dominik Řepický and executed by painter Jan Ezechiel Vodňanský, who was working here in accordance with the concetto created probaly by learned historian Michael Adam Franck of Franckenstein who designed a concept of festival decorations for the metropolitan chapter to commemorate the beatification of John of Nepokuk in 1721. The article interpret the painting decorations of the chapter library as an explication of intelectual traditions and bringing them into the present. |
