Description The improvement of performances is one of main sports principles and the analyse of the performance development is a part for planning and realisation of the sports training. This analyse is rather complicated at outdoor sports where the performances are influenced by a lot of extraneous factors. It is possible to reach the certain degree of objectification only in longer time series preferably with the help of the simple criterion. In this essay it is evaluated the development of the performance of women cross-country skiing by way of the changes of the average speed by 2 decades. At the same time 2 continually developing styles are compared. The tendency of the development of average speeds was calculated with the help of regression equation, the differences in speeds of both styles with the help of the t-test. The biggest improvement was found at the 5km free style track and 30km classic style track. The average speeds of both styles were significantly different during the time of monitoring at all the tracks /5, 10, 15 and 30km/.
