Description | Works of art are ubiquitous in Michel Butor's novels during Nouveau Roman period and creative meeting of text and painting (and music) quickly became the foundation of his writing. Although the practice of collaboration of artists with writers has become routine for last two centuries Michel Butor is not seduced by proven processes and embarks on the risky path of experimentation. His vision of interaction of the arts and litterature is reflected in an overflowing intertextuality that reaches all areas of artistic creation. Struggling to prove the link between text and image and its influence on our perception of reality, Butor, university professor, does not forget to continue his educational purposes to educate the reader and teaches him to read in the different way. The objective of this article is to demonstrate on the example of the cycle Illustrations the principles of Butor’s writing after the Nouveau Roman period compared to current trends in the approximation of the arts. |
