Description The article deals with importance of lactose in human life. Approximately 70% of the world population has hypolactasia, which often remains undiagnosed and has the potential to cause some morbidity. The wide variation in prevalence has caused speculation that lactase deficieny is the „normal“ or „natural“ state, and the persistence of significant lactase activity into adult life is an „abnormal“ mutation. It discusses symptoms, genetics, prevalence, diagnosis of lactose intolerance and dietary management is also mentioned. This thesis deals with importance of lactose in human life.
