Description | The principal thematic motif of the childrens detective story is a crime and its investigation but the crime is modified, the approach to it corresponds with particularities of childrens perception. The child detective story often becomes a dramatized morality where, as in a fairy story, the good fights the bad. The child detective story has then almost a didactic nature, which necessarily results from the requirement to explain the wrong (why the crime happened, what will follow, what punishment the criminal will be given, etc.). The reasoning often overshadows the process of investigation where an important role is played by the wit of the child investigator but also by a chance or even by the age as an advantage of the child detective. |
