Description | H3do3a is heptadentate macrocyclic ligand capable of formation of the thermodynamic stable complex with europium(III) ion and it is able to form ternary lanthanide species with mono- and bidentate ligands. This contribution enlarges the study of the formation of ternary complex europium(III) species with important bioanalytes (carbonate, citrate, hydrogencarbonate, oxalate) or other ligands (5-sulfosalicylic, phthalic and picolinic acids) at pH = 7.2 by means of molecular luminescence spectroscopy. The formation of ternary complex species is accompanied by the increase of luminescence. The phenomenon is the consequence of exclusion of water molecules from the first coordination sphere substitution as the most effective quenchers. The simultaneous increase of coordination number of europium(III) ion from seven to nine. Picolinate form ternary complex species demonstrating high fluorescence intensity and the application of achieved results for determination of the bioanalytes is discussed. |
