Description | Aquatic hyphomycetes are mitosporic states of ascomycetes and basidiomycetes. They occur most commonly on deciduous leaves that have fallen into streams, and perform a vital role conditioning this plant detritus for consumption by stream invertebrates. Most investigations of the community structure and distribution of this group have been based on identifying species by the shape of their conidia. Records for 126 species and two varieties are presented in this chapter. |
