Description | This section makes a survay of penis cancer. Penis cancer is a rare malignancy. The most common histopatological type is squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Some risk factors for penis cancer were identified as well as lesions with a high risk of developing SCC (erytroplasie of Queyrat, Bowen's disease). Accurate histological diagnosis and staging are necessary for making treatment decision. Early limited lesions are treated by penis-preserving techniques (local excision, radiotherapy – external or brachytherapy, and individually other modalities). The treatment modalities advances tumour inclusives primary or postoperative external radiotherapy, surgery (partial to radical penectomy with individual node dissection), chemotherapy or their combinations. Follow-up in penis carcinoma is important for early detection of recurrence or complications of treatment. |
