Description | For the first time in history, human culture is threatened as a whole. The biosphere, capable of incorporating and protecting numerous regional cultures, cannot in the long run cope with a global, strongly integrated, consumer culture. The future of mankind, formerly guaranteed by nature, now depends on what we, people, do. In the last three chapters the author points to the ambiguous significance of the speech, information technology and education phenomena. Even though he doesn’t leave behind his emphasis on the irreplaceable role of the new ecological politics, he reminds us that the contents of the contemporary education must change: it will be necessary to depart from the abiotic and anti-natural orientation and adopt a biotic and nature-friendly orientation, i.e. to understand the Earth as a home for all living systems, including humanity. |
