Description | Schizosaccharomyces pombe log-phase cells were studied by the methods of freeze-etching and ultrathin sectioning. Recognizable dictyosomes consisted of 3–7 cisternae surrounded by vesicles. No distinct tubuli were found on the periphery of the cisternae. Each cell contained several solitary dictyosomes which were most frequently observed near regions of cell-wall growth. |
