Description Manor Krakovec conceals not only an outstanding decor from the late Renaissance period, but also an interesting chapter from more recent history. Josef Manes’s visit within its walls introduced into later regional and scholarly literature the view that, in the past, its silhouette was graced by a tower. A tower that in its shape very much precisely corresponds with early 16th C architecture, which would agree with the constructional development of the manor. Several aspects hint against this historical amendment, but only a detailed analysis of construction plans, research into archives of iconographic materials, and a contemplation of Manes’s literary production, and fashion in architecture of the nobility have allowed us to pronounce a final verdict in this matter. It is sometimes worth looking into literary memoirs such as the letter addressed to August Count Sylva-Taroucca.
